If I may be so bold....

Bold!
We're taught never to mix our stamp pad inks, right? It's stamping 101.  But one day, I was playing with the inks and accidentally forgot to clean off my stamp before switching inks. I liked the look and continued mixing them. Bold move? Oh yes!

Although I do not recommend doing this, I liked where it lead me. I felt like an alchemist! I created a wonderful aged metallic with a fabulous sheen that refuses to photograph well..

I'm celebrating the Bold! And these paper prize ribbons are just what I needed!

Now it's your turn! Whether it be a bold stamp, a bold color, or maybe a bold move. Be Bold!

Witch Kraft?

What? I thought she meant, "Which Craft..."

This week the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is Witch Kraft. It's never too early to celebrate the fun of Halloween with everyone's favorite Kraft brown paper. Or will you interpret the challenge differently? I did! I combined several different crafts and interests into one project. Which Craft? Well, take a look!
I utilized stamping, scrapbooking, hand-sewing and my love of vintage photos in this layout. I adore this endearing old photo. It's an image of a wake from a boat. This is an original vintage photo that was taken during an era when camera film was expensive and every click of the shutter was risky. Whoever took this picture must've been feeling unusually free and creative and wanted to remember that moment. The Glitz Designs embellishment states "I am the Master of my Fate and the Captain of My Soul." Perfect sentiment! I highlighted it by cutting a doily using a punch with the Martha Stewart circle edge punch starter set.
Translucent grunge circles were created by stamping and embossing on vellum before being sewn to the paper.

And the bee is cut and embossed with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die and folder.
Now it's your turn!

Anything Goes...

This week the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is "Anything Goes". This is a wonderful time to try a new technique or play with a new stamp set. For my project, I used a few new items that I've been itching to try. I used the new bookmark die from Simon Says Stamp. This die can create a sweet little bookmark out of anything in seconds! So fast and easy that I made several of these.
The spoon was cut with a sizzix die. I love this little spoon! It reminds me of the little spoons that used to come with ice cream cups...mmmm...but that's a whole other project for a later date. :)
Anyway....once the spoon was cut, it was easy to color and decorate. The little curve of the spoon was stamped with a stem stamp. Clever, isn't it?
If you use an e-reader or don't read, that's okay. This little bookmark can do double-duty as a tag or embellishment.

Do you remember chairs like these? Some of them had this crazy embossed pattern on them. THAT's what this embossing folder reminds me of! I remember having to sit at the dinner table until I ate my vegetables and then when I stood up, there were patterns indented on my thighs! LOL! True story! So I can say with experience, that the embossing looks a lot better on the paper than it does on your thighs!
