Share Love

Today I created a tag from this week's Unscripted Sketches sketch. I was feeling a little gloomy and eager to use my new cloud dies.  The dies are a Simon Exclusive that you can find here.  After playing with ink and glitter for a few minutes, my mood improved greatly.  Almost like magic!
I wish you all Inky Magic. :)

“this is where the cowboy rides away…”

We have a fun new theme this week for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week, May Flaum, our esteemed team leader, had a song stuck in her head. "this is where the cowboy rides away...."  When she told us the theme I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to make something for my cowboys.
I don't really have cowboys. But I do have two wonderful sons who are hard-working, brave and adventurous.  I don't discuss my family very often on my blog, but perhaps I should.  I have an awesome family and I'm very proud of them!  When my oldest son graduated from college in Michigan, he accepted a job offer in Texas.  He bravely packed his belongings and headed to the lone star state.  He didn't know a soul there, but he's created a wonderful life for himself now.  His birthday is coming up so I made him a fun gift sack.  The smaller bag will be used for my younger son, who is the sweetest guy and always makes time for his Mom.  (ie. he brings me Gigi's cupcakes...for no reason!)

I had a lot of fun making these bags.  I used my gift bag punch board to create  a bag out of a 12x12 piece of scrapbook paper.  I'snt that awesome?  That punch board is making me look at my paper stash in a whole new way! I used my gelli plate to create painted prints.  I die cut stars from the prints and made fun stamped stars to embellish the bags. And of course I had to add a couple glittered embellishments as well. :)
Do you have a song stuck in your head?  Or maybe you'd like to create a fun western-themed project.  We'd love to see it! Be sure to link your project to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog for a chance to win one of our weekly $50 gift vouchers to the Simon Says Stamp store. Your project could also be chosen to be featured and you could get a cool new badge for your blog.

Happy Stamping!

More 100 Proof Press Stamping Fun

I have been having a wonderful month this month as a guest designer for 100 Proof Press.  Their current newsletter came out today featuring additional recent projects that I have completed with their stamps.  I also wrote a tutorial for their blog on how to create some fun faux woodgrain embellishments, which will be featured later next week.

I adore feathers.  This stamp is called Favorite Feather. It has such unlimited potential.  The details are awesome. After I stamped it in red on kraft paper, I cut it out, added some gold Pan Pastel and distress ink accents and scored it for dimension. The wood grain accents were created with their wood grain stamp.

Love bees?  I do!  I adore this Bee Hive image. I stamped it on an antique book page prepared with gesso and distress inks, then cut in the shape of a house.  This lone bee has a lot of friends in the 100 Proof Press catalog, but I decided he needed some individual respect, so I perched him on some wire.
And how cute is this Sharp Owl stamped on patterned paper?  Easy-Peasy.

If you are not familiar with 100 Proof Press, you should check them out.  They carry thousands of images.  And they are all quality rubber.  I'm certain that I'll be using these images for a long time and I am so grateful to Sara from 100 Proof Press for allowing me to share.  It's been pure stamping bliss. :)
Happy Stamping!

foxy

Have you seen the 100 Proof Press Facebook page?  They are debuting a card that I made with their Fox Girl stamp.

Isn't she a sweetie?  Her little hands are perfect for holding just about anything.  I've used her before for projects. I love her to bits! As a guest designer this month, I have created some additional projects that will be featured in the 100 Proof Press  newsletter later this month.  I'll keep you posted.  Have a great weekend!

A is for AIRPLANE

At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog we are challenging everyone to use the letter "A" for their project this week. Adhesives? Art? Archival? American Craft? Anthropomorphic Animals? hmmm....
For my project, A is for.......AIRPLANE!

I love postal themed projects and was trying to come up with ideas when I saw this in my kitchen...
The bottle was plastic and had an interesting shape. I recalled that my design team teammate Ashli used paper mache last Autumn to create a cool mixed media pumpkin.  (You can see that post here.)  It was then that I decided to make a paper mache airplane.
After taping cardboard wings to the clean plastic bottle, I began the paper mache process.  I created my own paste by combining 4 parts water to one part flour and cooking it until it was boiling and had a custard-like consistency. I don't have any photos of the actual paper mache process.  My hands were coated in goo. It was just like grade school all over again. Fun! I let the plane dry completely overnight and then began painting and creating a mixed media surface. I used several vintage postage stamps from my personal ephemera collection.  The stamped flowers are from the Hero Arts "Sunshine" Clear Stamp collection.  It coordinates with the new BasicGrey Fresh Cut Collection that I used. I stamped the flowers on tissue paper, colored them with colored pencils and then adhered them with matte medium.  I created a little paper pinwheel for the propeller.

Now it's your turn.  A is for.....??
Show us your project at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog and you could be our next weekly winner of a $50 gift voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.  Your could also be chosen to be one of our featured designers.

Journey Journal

Anything Goes this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog.  Anything?  Yes, anything! If you can create it, we'd love to see it.
The Christmas season often robs me of creativity.  Does that happen to you too? Lots of demands and little down-time. Ugh! To find my mojo, I need to play.  A messy, messy play!  I used canvas as a base and explored different effects with paints, inks and ephemera. The canvas was strong enough to take on many layers and still remain durable, so I used a simple pamphlet stitch and tied in some pages for a quick and easy (yet durable!) notebook.

Now it's your turn to play.  Don't forget...anything goes! Link up your latest creative project at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for a chance to win a $50.00 gift voucher to the Simon Says Stamp store.
