Foodie News

Recently, I came across an awesome recipe for Garlic Chicken with Maple Chipolte Glaze that I am dying to try. The only thing holding me back, was the fact that it called for chipolte chiles in adobo sauce, and frankly, I had no idea what that was.  Then someone told me about Food52 and I can tell that it is going to change the way I look at recipes.  This website is amazing!   The photos are works of art, but what makes it different from the rest, is the "FOODPICKLE" section.  You can text or tweet any food question, for fast, efficient, real-time answers.  And it's free!  Think about it.  No more chasing down supermarket employees who haven't a clue.  Now I can text my food questions straight from the produce section.  (...or meat section, or wherever!)  I'm pretty excited about it.  Check it out!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

Sew Fun!

Embroidered kitchen towels are so retro-cool!
(My photography skills are not.)

Embroidery is back, baby!
These kitchen tea-towels were sooo fun to sew!  The patterns were generously provided for free online.  The flower lady and happy teacup patterns were found at doe-c-doe.  And the mushroom gnome pattern came from Aimee Ray.  A pack of four plain towels was about $5.00 at Target.  What a deal!  I've been stitching up a bunch of these little towels.  The ones in the photo are heading to Lexington.  I hope she likes them! xoxox

Pretentious Pudding aka: Creme Brulee

This is a photo of my second attempt at making Creme Brulee, which was delicious!  Even less-than-perfect creme brulee is better than no creme brulee, but it's not as difficult to make as you might think.  And it's quite inexpensive.  For less than $4.00, I made six individual desserts.  I've been reading the book,  Elegantly Easy Creme Brulee : & Other Custard Desserts by Debbie Puente for helpful hints and using some free recipes I found at http://www.allrecipes.com/ .  (Try the 5-Star Ghiradelli recipe there. mmmm. yummy.)

I would suggest making some and then watching one of my favorite movies, Amelie.  Amelie likes creme brulee too.  Watch for a taste!
